Most of the pictures that Jacob Riis took were of people in the 1900s and how they lived. Most of the were poor, they had to make artifical flowers to make money, and they had large families because a lot of their childern died from illnesses. Tall buildings had some parts that were made of wood, which could easily wear out and fall down. The picture that stadns out the most to me is the picture of coney Island. It stood out the most because Coney Island looked a lot different than it does today, and so did the buildings.

The picture was about the poor people life in the cities. It shows the poor people sleeping in a small place with many people in there. It remind me of how poor people live and people living in the bad steerage. Iy is like there is no room for more than one. It also showed people stacked on each other

Jacob Riss wanted to show how the past looked like and how lucky people are today to have things that weren't aviable in the past. These pictures showed that the people suffered a lot and had a poor life.People in the past lived in dirty areas. Seeing the pictures told me that the past look so much diiferent from today.

Today is in class the pictures that Jacob Riis took were very sad. The pictures were of people and how they lived in the New York City in the 1900s. It showed the way people washed clothes in the allie ways. The way people slept, it was 5-6 people in 1 room. It was very sad. Also, to sleep on a bunk at night, people had to pay 7 cents a night. The one the stands out in my mind the most, was the one with the 6 people that slept in one room. The room that they slept in was also a kitchen.

Jocob Riis took photos of how NYC was like back in the 1900s. It was totally different from then and now. People lived in rooms the size of my bedroom. They slept and ate all in one room and about 5 or more people all lived in there. Also people were hanging there clothes on ropes in allie ways and it was all dirty and so small. The streets were made out of dirt and horses would pull them around but now in the 2000s people would be using cars on concrete floorings. Also people would pay 7cents a night to sleep on a hammick rather then in there tiny room. The picture that stood out the most in my mind was the picture of all the children working at the table. Because of how little the parents made the children would have to make stuff to sell. They helped out alot.

The pictures show how people lived in the 1800's. It showed that poor people lived in run down houses and in the street. The picture that stood out most was the one with 7 people living in 1 room. That's because it's horrible for people to live in 1 room and be so crowed.

Jacob Riis photos of how New york used to be in the 1800s. It showed how poor people lived. Dirty water, clothes, and everyone was stack in one room. It was really disgusting... The area was very small. There was 5 people in one room and it was very crowded. A lot of children were either ill and some some even died.

In Jacob Riis' photo's the way of the lower class's and midle classe's life styles were shown. Five to Four people were livinf in one room, along with luggage and pots, pans, etc. etc.
Another picture also showed the way "The bend" road looked back then, with dirt roads and horse dropping alining the streets. Back then instead of cars, they used horses and carriages.

The pictures that Jacob Riis had taken were about the people living in New York in the 1900's. There were many people living in one small apartment and were very crowded. There waz also people crowded in the alleys and clothes were hung up on ropes all over the place. The picture that stood out the most to me waz the one with the people crowded in the small room that waz also a kitchen, thats just wrong.

We saw pictures of the poor, and NY picture from the 1900s.Where the poor people slept with 5 people squished together in one room, and the kitchen right in the same room. The windows and the doors of the houses looked like they were about to break. The houses were built out of wood so it would collapse.
The most that stood out to me was the picture with the people in the house that are squished , sleeping in one room with a bunch of people must really suck. I really don't know how they lived back then, but I doubt they had a good life. :[

Jacob Rii's photos showed us how poor people lived back then. It showed us the bad conditions of their living environment. Nyc at that time would smell really bad because of horse poop everywhere. Also the floors werent cemented, so when it rains your feet would be walking in inches of mud. The houses werent built properly and there wasnt enough ventalation. Some people's home were falling apart, making it very dangerous for them to live in it. There was this photo that really surprised me, which was a small room with around 5 people sleeping in it. In that room i didnt see any ventalation and their kitchen was basically a shelf filled with pots, pans, and cooking utencils. If they wanted to cook, they would have to go outside and cook.

In Jacob Riss's pictures it shows how people from the 1900's were and how they lived. These pictures showed how the poeple adapt to the environment. Like in one of the pictures, it had liek 5-6 poeple in the room all crowed in and there was a little kitchen in there too. The room was really small. They all looked dirty. In the city there were cloths lined up with the cloths line. It would be crowed and it would look dirty. if you compare the pictures from before and then it shows alot difference.

the people in the picture were mostly poor. they had to go through rough times during the 1890's. though things looked tough they made it. during the beginning of the 1900's the apartments had to have a circulation and had to have certain
kinds of sanitation. the picture that stood out to me was the picture that showed the clothes on those things you put your clothing on to dry. it stood out to me because i saw soo many people out there it wasn't even funny. first of all it was crowded. second of all it looked like many people got hurt when they were there walking. that is my perspective of Jacob Riis and this theory.
